Our Fall 2019 After-School Program Themes
NASA Academy of Future Space Explorers
NASA and Mad Science collaborate to educate the next generation! Children go on a voyage of discovery with unique hands-on activities, and amazing demonstrations that explore the sun and stars, space technology, rocket science, the atmosphere, planets and moons, and more!
Using LEGO® bricks, kids build a different engineering-themed project in each class. They explore different engineering fields including mechanical, structural, aerospace, nautical, and bioengineering. They use critical thinking and creative problem-solving to test and improve their creations.
Who are your instructors?
We recruit individuals who have experience in classrooms or with groups of elementary aged children. All our instructors must pass a series of state and national criminal background checks, and be cleared through our training process. Instructors are assigned for the entire length of the program.+
When do I pay?
Payment is required at the time of registration. Mad Science accepts checks or credit cards (over the phone, on the registration form or through our on-line registration system).+
What is your class cancellation policy?
Classes must have at least 10 students registered for the program to run. If we do not reach the minimum number of students, you will be notified via email and your money will be refunded. For inclement weather, we run at the school's discretion and will notify you about make up days.+
What is your refund policy?
A refund will be made to any parent who withdraws a child prior to the second week of the program. Withdrawal after the second week is not subject to a refund. Refunds will not be issued for classes missed by the child.+
Why am I on a wait list?
Our classroom min is 10 students and our max is 20 students. Once we reach 20 students, the next 9 students go on a wait list. Once the wait list has 10 students, we will be able to open a second class. You will be notified via email when the second class becomes available to complete registration.+
Can I register for the program, even if the deadline has passed?
Sure, as long as there is space available. Please call us at (412) 779-0123 to check for availability and to complete the registration process over the phone. Eric is Mad Science of Pittsburgh's School Coordinator.+
Here's what parents have to say about our after-school programs!
My son has attended the Mad Science after-school programs every year starting from Kindergarten! We love how excited he has been after each class to tell us about the cool things his Mad Scientist did! We can't wait to do it again this year!
Our son loves science! I am a high school science teacher and love that you give these opportunities for young kids! :)
Rancho Cordova, CA
When I pick up my son from school on Fridays, his energy is different from any other day. Instead of the usual response to my questioning of his day's experience - "it was fine"- I hear an enthusiastic stream of science facts and stories of experiments. When we get home, he demonstrates what he's done with the kits Mad Science gives him to take home. Thank You Mad Science!!
