Camp Topics

Themes include:

 Fizz, Boom, Bang!

Shake up a flask of fun in the lab as a junior chemist!  This hands-on and interactive program of chemistry is packed solid with cool reactions.  Students put on goggles and change liquid to solid and back again.  They get to handle laboratory tools, build and break molecules, and pick up some tricks on chemical changes.

 Mission: Code

Join us in an online game that teaches programming by helping campers recognize the patterns and sequence structures involved in writing a line of code. Playing as a robot, your task is to get through each level, collecting stars or destroying rubies by creating a sequence starting with directional arrows, brackets and a hammer. As you advance, you'll have more obstacles in your way and get more tools to be able to make your way around more complex levels. You can even create your own level!

 Red Hot Robots

Join us for a week of fun with amazing robots! In this full week of half-days, learn about the uses of robots in our world and spend time experimenting with super cool red-hot robots. Experiment with sound sensing robots, line-tracking robots, amphibious robots and robots that can even play soccer! Discover the science of circuits and how robots use sensors to explore things around them. Use your skills to build your very own working robot to take home with you! The AM and PM portions will vary in experiments as well as robots built, so feel free to enroll in a full day!

 Eureka! The Inventors Camp

Overcome a series of challenges using basic materials, simple machines, tips from famous inventors and most important of all – your mind! Create catapults and forts, build shelters, bridges, and learn about density.  While Thomas Edison said “invention is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration,” this camp is 100% FUN!

The Science of our Bodies - This camp offers a chance to explore just how gross our amazing bodies are! Discover cool chemical reactions, and get right down to the microscopic level to discover the stuff we're all made of—cells! Venture inward on a journey down the “Organ Trail” and explore all our body systems. Create an organ apron and a model lung to take home. Finish the week with an introduction to some of the gross body chemistry we all need, including burping, farting, spit and why we need mucus - make your own brain goo to keep!

 Building S.T.E.A.M.

Engage your minds with exciting hands-on activities, spectacular demonstrations, and inquiry-based discussions all while exploring the intersections of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (S.T.E.A.M.) Children discover the science behind the effects from their favorite movies, investigate 3-D technology, and learn how ink analysis can help investigators solve crimes. In the afternoon portion, build and take home your own Konstruktor 35MM camera! Learn about the science of optics, mechanics and electronics that make the camera operate.

Join us for Brixology, where students will use unique Mad Science designed LEGO® kits to build a different engineering-themed project in every class! They will use critical thinking, cooperation, and creative problem-solving to test and improve your creations! Each class will revolve around a different engineering theme- including mechanical, structural, and nautical engineering. Brixology sets the foundation for our next generation of makers!
